'Stat' is a common abbreviation for the Latin word "statim" which means "immediately." Although "stat" could also have other meanings, such as "status," "stature," or "statistical," these are less commonly used and do not have as much of a connection to the original word as "immediately" does. Therefore, "immediately" is the best and most commonly understood inferred meaning of 'stat.'
